By promoting the body’s natural healing process, reflexology can help with the majority of conditions and health problems.

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that can be enjoyed by everyone. People tend to feel very relaxed and some may even fall asleep.  The treatment is not ticklish or acutely painful although there may be some discomfort or tenderness in reflexes which show an imbalance.  Many people tend to describe this feeling as "a good hurt/pain".

Below is a list of conditions where reflexology can really help:

  • Anxiety and Stress

  • Arthritis & joint pain

  • Back/neck pain & sciatica

  • Chronic illnesses – diabetes, MS

  • Depression

  • Digestive disorders & constipation

  • Endometriosis

At the end of each treatment you will be offered homecare advice to prolong the effects of the treatment.

Reflexology can help improve symptoms associated with clinical health conditions and should work alongside any medical care you may be receiving.

Fertility

Trying for a baby can be a wonderful and exhilarating experience. On average it takes between 12-18 months for a couple to conceive, however, sadly around one in six will experience fertility problems.   Psychological, environmental and nutritional factors all have a role to play in the bigger picture of fertility.

Reflexology is a safe complementary therapy for those trying to conceive naturally but also as part of assisted conception such as IUI, IVF, ICSI.  Reflexology can help de-stress and balance hormones prior to an IVF treatment, during the different stages and even after the completed process.

Fertility reflexology treatments are available for both male and female clients. Both partners may need to receive treatment pending evaluation.  Whatever stage you are at in the process of trying to conceive, a treatment plan will be developed to help balance your body so that it is at an optimum level for conception. Sessions will also include homecare advice to help you improve your chances of conception.

Female Subfertility (60min / 90 min)

This treatment will help bring your body back into balance, helping to de-stress you and your body as well as balancing hormones.

The most common problem affecting female fertility is an ovulation disorder where there is limited or no ovulation.  This could be due to:

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

  • Thyroid gland disorders

  • Adrenal gland disorders

  • Excessive exercise

  • Diabetes

  • Weight loss

  • Obesity

  • Psychological stress

Stress levels for women trying to conceive are typically high which could potentially lead to anxiety or depression. When we are under stress  we experience neurochemical changes which can affect ovulation meaning women ovulate less or not at all, resulting in fertility issues.  Nowadays, women lead busy lives with demanding jobs and home lives often resulting in exhaustion, poor health and stress.

Female subfertility could also be due to blocked fallopian tubes. Due to either:

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease

  • Endometriosis

  • Ectopic pregnancy

Other fertility issues may be:

  • Immune system problems

  • Being aged over 35

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease

  • Adrenal or thyroid deficiencies

  • Fibroids or benign growths in the uterus

  • Medication commonly taken mid cycle e.g. ibuprofen and aspirin

Male Subfertility (60min / 90 min)

This treatment will help bring your body back into balance, helping to de-stress you and your body, boost sperm count and balancing hormones.

In men, both physical and emotional stress can affect fertility.  Sperm counts, sperm motility

and structure are all altered under stress. Both impotence and ejaculation difficulties are

often caused by emotional distress.

Sperm production and quality can also be affected by:

  • Temperature e,g, high fever, hot tubs, tight fitting underwear

  • Chemicals/toxic substances  such as radiation & electromagnetic pollution

  • Environmental factors such as exposure to lead, heavy metals and pesticides

  • Medication such as penicillin and tetracycline

  • X-rays, stress, tobacco, marijuana & alcohol

Pregnancy & Maternity (60min / 90 min)

This treatment will help you to relax, relieve tension and stress.  It can also help with the common symptoms and conditions that may affect you during this wonderful but also stressful time.

Reflexology can benefit a woman at every stage of her pregnancy, from conception through all three trimesters, during labour and even post-partum!

Trimesters 1, 2, 3

It is perfectly safe to receive reflexology throughout all three trimesters.  Having reflexology throughout maternity care is a safe and preventative therapy and can help with:

  • Morning sickness and nausea

  • Lower back pain

  • Sciatica

  • Anemia

  • SPD / PGP

  • Heartburn

  • Varicose veins

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Constipation

  • Cramp

  • High blood pressure

  • Odema (swelling)

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Insomnia

  • Itching

  • Respiratory problems / shortness of breath

As the use of medicines whilst pregnant is limited, reflexology is a useful modality due to it being a non-invasive therapy.  It will help to enhance optimal health and well-being during pregnancy and in preparation for the birth.

Priming for Labour

There is no evidence that reflexology will induce labour, however, it does help the body to relax at a stressful time and to reach the optimum level for when the body is ready to go into labour naturally.

After 37 weeks, certain reflexes are stimulated that are connected to the induction of labour to ensure that they are prepared for when the body is ready to begin the birth process.  Working these specific reflexes will never cause premature labour.

Postnatal (puerperium) - the first 6 weeks

This treatment will leave you feeling energised and totally relaxed at the same time. It will also  help to restore balance and boost recovery in the post-natal period by helping with:

  • Aching joints

  • Caesarean section aftercare

  • After forceps delivery

  • After epidural anaesthesia

  • Backache

  • Breast engorgement and mastitis

  • Lactation - improving milk production and quality

  • Fatigue

  • Perennial pain

  • Post natal blues

  • Post natal depression

  • Urination difficulties

Cancer & Palliative Care (60min / 90 min)

This treatment will help you emotionally and physically to overcome the shock of your diagnosis as well as aiding symptom relief, general well-being and improving quality of life.

Treatment times can be adapted to suit your needs. If preferred, treatments can take place in your bed or wherever you feel most comfortable.  Whilst treatments are generally on the feet, hand reflexology can be used as an alternative if preferred.

Receiving a diagnosis of a life-threatening illness such as Cancer can be an incredible shock resulting in huge uncertainty and emotional and physical trauma. Reflexology can help patients feel a sense of taking control and doing something for themselves.

Some benefits to having reflexology as part of palliative care include:

  • Support emotional wellbeing and often improving quality of life

  • Relieve anxiety, stress and depression

  • Improving sleep pattern

  • Reducing pain

  • Boosting the immune system

  • Reducing swelling (odema)

  • Balancing the body

  • Boosting energy levels

  • Assisting the body to heal post surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy which may have caused tissue damage

Reflexology is non-invasive therefore not requiring the patient to remove all their clothing (just socks and shoes) and not invading personal space.

Raindrop Massage Therapy (60min / 90min)

Rejuvenate you mind. Balance your body!

This treatment brings balance and alignment to the body in a non-invasive manner. It can also stimulate all the body systems on a physical and emotionally level.  You will leave feeling energised, relaxed and more connected to your body!

Raindrop Massage Therapy is a powerful technique using essential oils that was developed by  Gary Young in the 1980s. It combines several holistic modalities to bring balance and alignment to the body in a non-invasive manner.

How does it work & how does Raindrop get its name?

This technique involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the feet, spine and neck. The session lasts either 60 or 90 minutes, however the benefits may last up to a week or more.

Essential oils are dropped from about 6 inches above your spine, simulating rain drops. It feels like a rain drop gently striking your spine, and it is very relaxing and comforting.

Raindrop Technique may help to:

  • Balance and re-align the energy centers of the body.  The essential oil blend of Valor helps the body align and is often referred to as “chiropractor in a bottle”

  • Reduce stress and minor anxiety. The oils enhance positive emotions such as joy and happiness, but they may also help us release negative emotions that are subconsciously stored on a cellular level

  • Aid the body’s natural response to irritation and injury.  Thyme and Oregano are strong antioxidants and will support the immune, respiratory, nervous, and other body systems.

  • Ease occasional muscle, bone, and joint discomfort.  Basil, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Cypress and Peppermint essential oils reduce tension in muscles. Wintergreen supports healthy bone structure.

  • Improve immune system functions – Thyme and Oregano essential oils support the immune system; and aid in the release of toxins in the body. This can contribute positively to your overall health and well being.

  • Help emotional well being and release – essential oils cross the blood-brain barrier and effect the limbic system where emotions are stored in the “brain’s emotional computer”

  • Detox the body systems – the oils being high in phenols cleanse cellular receptor sites and enhance cleansing of the body

Young Living Essential Oils used in the Raindrop Technique:

  • Valor (blend)

  • Thyme

  • Basil

  • Wintergreen

  • Marjoram

  • Cypress

  • Peppermint

  • AromaSieze (blend)

  • Oregano
